There are some great suggestions in other threads for securing an overhead doing that does not need to be opened often, but fewer ideas for doors that still need to be opened.
A bit of backstory: Friday I heard a bunch of yelling from 2 doors down. I hustle out front and find a young lady crying on the sidewalk holding a small dog. Another fellow from the other side of the street gets her calmed down enough to learn that her 'boyfriend' just roughed her up and kicked the dog repeatedly. We move her and the dog over to my yard and I check over the dog. It's suffered a serious blow to the head and displays signs of a major concussion, it's abdomen is also very firm so I suspect internal bleeding. I call the cops, they show up as does her sister. The sister takes the dog to the vet and the cops help the girl move all her stuff to the street. I offer to let her move her stuff over to my yard until she can line up somewhere to store them.
I manage to get some info from her regarding the boyfriend, he's a heroin dealer/user as well as a steroid junky.
My concern is that I am now on his **** list for helping her out. I put up bars in my garage windows, and bolted one of the overhead doors. But I still need to be able to open the second door.
Any suggestions on beefing up the other door?
I would prefer to stuff the ************* in 55 gsllon drum, but I'm not going to interact with him at all if I can help it.
