Security Bar

Guys (and Gals) I live in a deteriorating neighborhood. There have been alot of breakins in the past couple of years . I am contemplating building some security door and window bars, screens etc.
If any of you have done this how about posting some pictures and methods you have used to accomplished this. Especially DIY.

I would start by looking at You Tube, DIY security doors/window bars for how to and ideas.

Move to a Better place to live, Get a Big Gun, go outside a few Day a Week
and blow big holes in the ground, people will get the Idea.

For my french doors - i put a bolt through each leaf and on the inside i have a steel bar drilled with wingnuts. Concept is it stops them getting kicked in.

Make sure you put some kind of release on the inside, in case of fire.

Whatever you do, whatever you buy.....it wont keep anyone out if they really want in.

No you are right you can't keep anyone out of they really want to, and they have all the time in the world.

You need a combination of a monitoring system that will get you, or law enforcement to respond, and you need to slow them down enough to catch them in the act.
