Security Door For My Shop

Here is a security door I finished this week for my shop. Ive been meaning to build one for a couple years now (ever since I built this shop) and finally got around to it. If someone broke in they would have an absolute hayday and for me an absolute nightmare so this brings me much peace of mind. The frame around the door is secured to the building with 5/16" bolts which run clear through the wall so the door isn't coming down unless the wall comes down.:) I was going to powder coat it but figured heck with it Ill leave it rust. It matches the color of the shop a bit anyway.

that is cool. nice job love the look.
but, a now deceased locksmith friend used to say,"if they have enough time and want in bad enough, they'll get in"
and 30 seconds with a cordless drill on that lock in the right place will let them gain entry

True but at least they will have to work at it. Someone could have broke the old door out by running into it with their shoulder.

The door looks really nice, you did a wonderful job building it. I agree with the "The Cobbler" though, if someone wants in bad enough, they will get it in. I tend to think that the best solution is to not do things that would make a thief think there is something valuable inside. Not to sound pessimistic but I think putting bars on windows and having a real strong security type door is sort of like putting up a sign saying "valuable stuff inside".

All they have to do to know there is good stuff inside is look at all the stuff outside the shop such as steel and forklifts and such. Stuff I cant hide. Guess all a guy can do is do what he can and have decent insurance and hope for the best.
