I have the same issue. I take a "ingress" approach and have cameras up high, if you want to disable the camera facing the door, you can (it's low) but the cameras that cover ingress are going to get you. I do have "dummie" cameras up down by the shop, I make them obvious looking.

Probably more effective than "protected by [security service] even if you don't have a dog. But the UPS man may be a lot more careful..

You're assuming a burglar is going to take the time to stop and read that sign. The vast majority of them go by the quick in / quick out, smash and grab method. If they can't open the door with a couple kicks, they'll likely move on looking for easier pickings.

Rig up a porch pirate bomb. If the camera is tampered with, it explodes. Either way, the burglar is going to steal or destroy your property, getting a laugh out of it may ease the pain.

They are almost always masked up around here. Having cameras up (even fake ones) may deter a bit. I dunno if the dog sign works, but it certainly concerns the UPS guy.... Dogs loved him, he brought milk-bones.

Years ago, at a former employer, we had cameras at the front and rear doors of the data center. Operators could buzz someone (couriers, IBM, etc.) in if needed. Monitors (1 for each camera) sitting on the operators desktop. They weren't recorded.

At one point, someone went out back for a smoke break and happened to look up. Camera was gone. No one ever noticed because the static image, porch/doormat/etc., had long ago been burned into the monitors. Could have been gone hours, days, months....
