Anyone have any recommendations on decent quality LED Dusk til dawn or motion sensor lights?

Pretty much all the under eave security lights on the house has chooched their last due to moisture ingress and UV damage. Figured I'd at least attempt to step into the 21st century and see if anyone has used and liked any of the LED options on the market. When talking incandescent, I generally choose motion activated so as to not waste electricity, but I'd be willing to go dusk til dawn with an LED since they burn way less juice than their filamented cousins. Let me know what you got and what you hate.

Most of my neighbors are on the security light kick right now. None of which aims or adjusts their lights / sensors worth a damn. One has a bright (always on) flood light pointed in to the intersection on his corner lot, and all of the others have lights that come on when people drive down the street. Nothing quite like walking the dog at night and having a volly of bright *** LEDs shining at you.

PLEASE FOR ALL THAT IS GOOD, tune the motion detector to only activate if there is motion on the property.

Well, shouldn't be too hard since we live on 20 acres. Pretty much anything we can see is on our property.

Looked around a couple weeks ago. Seems like with the influx of cheap LED tech the options were convulouded. I was in a hurry so just grabbed a couple at home depot, figuring they are all the same made in China tech. If I have to replace it in a year $40 is better then $200.

I did not have time to go to the electrical supply house. Amazon was a disaster to search.

Tom, How do you intend to mount it? Do you have an electrical box on the side of the eave, or on a pole, or somewhere else?

I'm tight on time to give details at the moment, so I'll just drop this for now:

I went to Lowe's and bought their motion fixture and LED flood lights about two months ago (both Utilitech brand). So far, they are holding up nicely. I bought this specifically for our dog to have light at night, sometimes it seems the motion sensor wont activate when he is right under it. So I am not 100% confident the sensor window is consistent, but it does light up for him eventually. I paid somewhere between 40-50 bucks for the housing and bulbs. I plan to add more of these to other corners of the house and shop.

Here is a link... https://www.lowes.com/pd/Utilitech-110-Degree-2-Head-White-Integrated-LED-Motion-Activated-Flood-Light-with-Timer/1000215609 just read the reviews and will just say it looks like how you mount it may be a factor. I have mine flush mounted horizontally to the soffit and I do not have water related issues.

Also I should have added I had the same school of thought... no sense in spending hundreds of dollars with the uncertainty that the sensor will hold up.

I usually just take an existing outdoor light fixture I like, drill a hole and add a dawn to dusk sensor from Woods/Tork/Intermatic to it. That way if the sensor takes a dump I can just replace it.

There are also some LED bulbs with integrated sensor to just screw into any fixture.

I don't usually go the motion sensor route, just let the LED's run since it's minimal electric $$.

I've had good luck with the Lithonia motion sensor LED lights other than the plastic lens rots from direct UV on it in the afternoon sun. If I could find a source just for a replacement lens.....

I got this one on amazon. ridiculously bright. run it dusk to dawn off a separate sensor. first one lasted 8 months. they sent a replacement under warrenty. my big issue is the kelvin color. I hate the blue or bright white. this one is actually very close to incandescent. area of coverage is reading light 100 by 80 deep. I had to adjust it when my neighbor across the street said he can read by it on his deck.

I did try hd ones for double the price and was not impressed by their brightness.
