When's the last time you guys used one?

I'm stocked up on the regular Torx (bits and actual pro/SK handled ones) and am now wondering if I should pick up a Tamper resistant bit set now or when I come across one. Home user.

I can coupon this down to $19 with free shipping at Sears.com

You never have too many tools...

And the one time you'll need them you'll regret not having 'em

I've needed them at least once a month depending on what I'm working on.
Last time I used one was I needed a T50 to remove the airbag on a 2005 Chevy Aveo in order to replace the broken clock spring. That was March 18th.

I wouldn't hesitate. When you need it, you'll be glad you already have it.

depends on what type of vehicle you work on.

for $20 why not, you might not use it almost never as a home owner.

they are mostly used on sensitive parts.

You can get a set even cheaper at the auto parts store. About 10 small torx, 6 split standard, 4 offset Phillips, and a couple others in a yellow rubber case was under $12 near me (Houston TX). I'm the only one in my family with them, and they get called for a couple times a month.

Forgot to add, in addition to the security screws, I use these extensively on non security screws. The small sizes aren't going to see enough torque to worry about the pin hole.

I need them (and other security bits) frequently to remove the stops, thereby enabling my motel room window to open more than a crack. I spend 100 nights a year on the road, and couldn't live without my little brick of security bits.

I have keys, I'm fine at that (I might have other stuff but I don't have tptorx sockets). They ain't fancy (great neck I think; red plastic folder) but for most jobs fine. Some of their junk is decent or was decent, maybe I just got lucky. If you're being cheap or are poor and don't encounter it at all get keys.

I need one to take off the cover plate to access lug nuts on my wheels. Keep one in my car since shops don't often have them or if I need to change a flat.
