This add popped up on local Craigslist, and I'm not too knowledgeable on vintage toolboxes, or picking out sockets or other tools just by looking at a blurry picture.

Do you see anything that'd make a box worth $75?

I figured if I had a good enough confidence in getting a good deal, I'd go and try to haggle her down a bit. Hard to do when they won't show anything

There might be a few good pieces between the 4 boxes, but the majority of what I see is yard sale fodder. $20-$25 per box, maybe. $75 per box, not a chance.

I do see what looks like a Snap On screwdriver, so it may be one of a few or the only decent tool in the whole lot.

Even at $75 for all 3 boxes I would be prepared to walk away.

"Complete sets in each box?? Maybe if you're fixing bycicles but not much more than that. Pass

Drive over and take a good look see, then if you find just the box offer the person what you think is a fair price; all they can say is no and all you wasted was some gas an a little of your time.

I ended up finding something else to spend (invest) my money on this evening. I'll post pictures when I get home with them[emoji3]

Ended up going to get this instead. Got everything for $10 which I don't think is too bad of a deal.

3/8" drive Proto 11" ratchet 5250
3/8" drive Proto 3" extension
3/8" drive Proto 8" flex extension
1/2" drive Proto 11" breaker bar 5456
1/2" drive Proto 5" extension

Metric and SAE ignition wrenches. Not sure of brand. They are stamped USA and they have some numbers on them that lead me to both Craftsman and Armstrong. So I'm not sure who actually manufactured them.

Still not a terrible deal for $10

I think you did a lot better on your alternate plans, superbly even. I'm in Baton Rouge and have seen that CL post a few times and each time I've decided against going for it.

Great to see another Louisianan on here. I'm very satisfied with my purchase. My Proto collection is growing faster than I expected!

He originally wanted $50. It was on a little buy/sell app for about a month. So I figured he might take less, and I'm known to lowball pretty hard.. Offered $10 and he accepted haha.

Cant beat used Proto prices from people that don't know what they have [emoji1]

$75 for all 4 boxes and you're still taking a chance. I bought a grab bag of a metal tool box with tools in it for 20 and I ended up with not much more than the box itself after pulling out all the rusty **** no-name tools, screws, electrical tape and a few odd fittings. More dirt in the bottom of those things than anything else.

I've made that mistake a couple of times myself. Can't tell you how many zip ties I overpaid for in those boxes [emoji28]
