Looking for advice on a 1946 Westinghouse 2G air compressor. It has the following:
• Westinghouse ½ hp, 1725 RPM, 115/230-volt motor
• Westinghouse 2G compressor
• Westinghouse air brake stamped tank – believe to be 30 gallons based on a 1951 catalog.
• Westinghouse pressure gauge.
• Square D pressure switch.
This unit works fine and holds air without any leaks but takes 10.5 minutes to fill the tank from empty. This is my first vintage compressor, and don’t know if this is normal or if it needs a rebuild. My gut tells me this is not normal. I see kits available from a couple of suppliers and would like to rebuild the compressor if it needs it. This is my first go around with a compressor, any advice on what should be done would be greatly appreciated.
