I found various options online but looking for people who have cut a hole in the garage door, installed the vent, and used it.

I want to be able to start my vehicle , run it, and tune it with the garage door closed (maybe a window open for venting).

Anyhow I'm curious what others have installed, what brand, and how it worked?

I would definitely use exhaust hose designed for that purpose. It can be expensive, but you do not want exhaust gasses in the garage. The fitting that BudgetRacing linked to will work but the hose on the outside of the door should be a good 5-6 feet long so that wind doesn't carry the gasses back thru any open spot around the door.

If your car has dual exhaust, make sure that each tailpipe has a hose that either goes outside or has a Y-connector that connects each hose to a single hose that will go thru the fitting.

I am sure NAPA sells exhaust ports, as that is where I got mine. Years ago, I believe it cost me $49? My recollection is that I traced the opening outline, drilled holes all the way around to remove, and then used a half-round file to clean things up. The ring covers the opening, so beauty to the eye is not a requirement.

The port is not the major expense. The hose is quite expensive!
