Seeking info on Tool Caddy brand rolling tool chest

All, I just picked up this Tool Caddy chest and cannot find anything in typical searches for it. So I am turning to the always helpful brain trust of the group to help with any info or history of these. I am located near several military installations, so I’d guess maybe that’s where it was originally used? The drawer sections are movable/removable as is the handle. It’s been spray painted several times but I believe it was originally gray. I’m a junky for this kind of thing and always love to find info on them. Thanks in advance.

I have seen Tool Caddy that looks exactly like a Hazet Assistent so I suspect it was a more affordable tool brand that copied designs of established tool brands

Thank you. I have a Hazet Assistent and would love to find a knock off for a second one to use. I appreciate the info.

You're welcome ogreg.

The Tool Caddy is a unique box. One would need to either use tool racks that firmly secure the tools or shadow everything in the box to avoid everything sliding to the back of the drawers anytime it's moved. A friend of mine has one that he doesn't use. I'm hoping that he decides that I could give it a better home.

Hello

this Simonsen tool caddy doesn't look like I want to move it when it's loaded.
Still a nice old find. (y)

I assume you mean the Japanese tool "Caddy" type RC-101 from HORY Co Ltd. or simpler clones with "TOOL CADDY" sticker.
(HAZET Assistent was patented in 1954, the HORY and other copy clone from the 1980s/90s from Asia.)

The "Caddy" lettering looks very different to this here. The caddy name is not exactly unusual, unique or protected.
There will hardly be any connection to what is shown here...

regards,

Thank you guys for the info on my Tool Caddy. I’ve cleaned it a bit, removed one set of drawers (available if someone wants them, missing one of the three, PM and I can send pics and info). I looked at the box for a day or two, and decided to use it for my small mig welder. I had a welding cart plus another roller to hold helmets, tools, etc. The Tool Caddy holds everything in one cabinet. I currently have a small gas bottle, don’t do a lot of welding but if I do a taller bottle, I will figure out mounting for that. It eased my shop floor by one cart footprint, which is a step in the right direction for my crowded space. And always great to see someone else who likes Hazet tools. I have an Assistent with a fair amount of Hazet tools on board and use them often.
