Seeking information on 1/2" Blackhawk socket set

Hi,

I have an unusual Blackhawk 1/2" drive 8 point socket set that I have never seen before and would like more info on. It comprises 13 sockets from size 3/8 to 1-1/4 in a wonderful wooden box. The 1-1/4 socket is stamped 40240 Blackhawk -9. From what I can tell, the -9 means 1939. All of the sockets are the lock on style and are in really nice condition. Anyone familiar with this set? If so, would you know if the box is original with the set? There are no markings on the box but it does look old.

I placed the 1/2" drive Blackhawk free-wheeling ratchet on top of the sockets to show just how big this set is.

Any information on this set would be much appreciated.

The AA web-site talks about the 401 series 1/2" drive I did not see any talk of a 402 series; it might be there and I could have missed it.

I bet he would kill to get your set and display for all to see; a very nice set be sure and take good care of it for the next generation to enjoy!

Very nice set! I bet the wooden box was shop made for the tools and the set could also be 49 and what date code does the ratchet have?

I have a few 8 point Blackhawk sockets identical to these.

I know for a fact that my Grandfather bought these well before the war, probably late 1920's or early 1930's, but I suspect Blackhawk made this pattern for many years!

Good tools. Probably the best ever!

Looking at those closer up my guess would be 1949 simply because the chrome on the later tools is more shiny and polished then the older production blackhawk tools. That set sure is neat and complete if you ever would consider trading it please let me know. And If you look at my avatar picture it is of all my blackhawk ratchets.

Wild love to have been able to pick the brain of the original owner of this set to find out more about the set and if the box is original to the set. Just not a lot of information about the set to be found...
