All the ones I have found thus far are made in Asia and rebrand. Right now I am leaning towards the classic welpers, but are there any others that you guys could point me towards?

Woah, I didn'the know or expect channelocks to still be us made. I may well go that route though I wish knipex or klien made some. Some comfort grips would be great for use with thick fcaw gloves.

Monte those pliers look like something else! Can you give me a make and model?
Thanks BD1. Welpers brand is manufactured in Japan, which I'm not particularly opposed to, but I find doing research and finding the best tool to fit my needs results in never having to buy twice.

I've always considered the Welper (Japan) brand to be the best. My first pair saw 20 years of daily use before I gave them to an apprentice. The pair I have now are 10 years old and should last at least as long as the first.

The Channellocks look pretty nice, but the only ones I've seen are less than a year old.

Those looked interesting enough that I looked into them too...

I didn't see any US distributors off hand though.

I have USA channellock and Japanese welpers. I pefer the Japanese welpers. They do a better job of clipping the wire near the joint.
