I retired a couple years ago and since have resumed the responsibility of repairs at our church. My credentials are I know a little about a lot of things and a lot about a few things.

In a main hall one fixture containing 4 T8 4ft bulbs isn't burning. I tried new bulbs without success. So turning my attention to the ballast.

The present ballast is an Accupro Model AP-321IP-UNV. I see similar options on Amazon for ~ $14 but no direct match of that model. How do I select a replacement that matches?

I know these days it's smart to convert to LED. But one light amongst many that's burning brighter will stand out more than it now not burning. At a later date we may convert to LED in groups, but these lights only burn about six hours per week so the LED power savings would take a while to recognize.

Ballasts are designed for number and type of bulbs.

If you have a 4 T8 tube fixture and a single ballast, buy a ballast that can run 4 T8 bulbs. There are residential and commercial grade ballasts. I'd personally go cheap since LEDs are becoming much more common and you will probably switch before the ballast goes bad again.

Also look into if your power company gives rebates. I've personally applied and received commercial rebates for re-lamping at my work. They paid $3/bulb for ballast bypass LED bulbs. All I needed to provide was a receipt. I ordered them from Amazon. I calculated ROI including my labor at less then 2 years. I measured a 40% reduction in power.

That part number doesn't work for me but I would assume it's a 4 lamp ballast. Probably instant start. Though it would be good to check.

Something like this one

Thank you for your help thus far. I've ordered one from Amazon that should work. I'm attaching a photo of the defective ballast. I don't know it's age but the lights have been there a long time.
