Selecting a 4 post lift width

Hi all. I'm preparing to finally get a lift for the garage. I am thinking about the Bendpak HD9ST. My only concern is the width. The widest vehicles I plan to have on there will be a new vette (2015 Z06) and a 2015 GM Yukon. The Yukon is just over 80" wide.

Bendpaks literature says 75" on outside of runways. Does anyone have any experience where the ST width doesn't work for their cars/trucks?

My mistake. The ST isn't the standard width, but is the one I'm interested in because of my garage bay sizes.

looking at all the cars listed in your post it would seem you are a gear head. My suggestion is to get the biggest your garage will hold both length and width, you never know what will present itself in the future. my first bendpac was a HD9 fit all my purposes, then my son got a F250 extended cab, to long for the HD9. Next I bought a HD14 with adjustable ramps and extra long all is now good. I use the HD9 for double stack storage of a couple of classics and the HD14 for projects

Can the HD14 be moved around the shop on wheels or does it have to be bolted to the floor?

I went the other way and got the narrow, short version from Bendpak, but extra tall.
A four poster takes up a lot of room, and I didn't want to make it worse by getting a long or extra wide one.
By the same thinking I got it extra tall so I could easily walk under it without having to duck or hit my head - makes the garage feel more open.
My biggest vehicle is a F550 with a 16' bed - no way was I going to try to get a lift big enough for it. I can work on it just fine on the ground.

I got the lift for my small, light sports/racers.

I don't think the Yukon will be going on an HD9st. I have a couple of them, I want to replace with a HD9 extra long, standard width. The narrow just makes it really difficult to get an SUV on there

I have the Bendpak 9k narrow-long-tall.....can't remember the model #. I got it because it takes up much less room width wise. Most vehicles fit fine, my 79 F250 goes on easy if you fold in the mirrors.
I highly recommend getting the longer one if you can.

I have an HD9-B (standard length and height but extra wide). I mostly work on Porsches, Hondas, chevy's, and various trucks, all within a garage with 10' ceilings.

What I especially like about this model is the ability to customize the width of the track. The track without the cylinder under it can be set at the same width as the standard lift or set to its full width position. I can easily accommodate and lift a narrowed VW or a really wide military Hummer. If you have the space, go extra wide so you are good to go for ANY vehicle in the future.

I have a three car garage, with the big two-bay door on the left and the single bay door on the right, which is where my BendPak lives - all the way to the right. What I really like about this set up is that the posts are actually wider than my door entrance, and are never in the way. Plus, it's like parking a hot wheels car on a sheet of paper. My posts are so far away, that I can comfortably walk around my car, with a car on top (or even under the lift) without running into any posts. This also allowed me to simply push my lift right up against the wall of my garage, yet positioned the car right where it normally would have sat, perfectly centered in the third bay.

Consider all cars owned by your friends and family and then add anything that's on your bucket or wish list. Now find the lift that fits 99% of those cars/trucks/boats/planes.

Believe me, if I had room for the extra long and extra wide 14K, that's what I would have ordered.

A full size Chevy truck will not clear the support beam ends that ride in the columns on a HD9-ST. I know this from first hand experience. I sold my HD9-St and got an HD9-XW. The ramps are the same distance apart but the offending support beam ends no longer interfere.

And double check BP's widths, what they used to sell as the "extra wide" got narrowed up a year or so ago. The widest they sell now is 100-1/4" between posts. My Direct lift is 108" between posts, not a lot of difference, but enough to make a difference.
An 80" wide truck quickly becomes 100" when you add the mirrors.

What I found is a full size truck fits between the columns on the HD9-ST but the tires don't clear the triangular interface between the beams and columns (down by the ramp)
