Selector Lever on Ratchet Occasionally Gets in the Way, Any Solution?

The Selector Lever on my Ratchets Occasionally Gets in the Way when ratcheting; sometimes the ratcheting mechanism goes in the opposite direction while ratcheting because my fingers accidentally switch the lever. I'm sure its not user-error The lever is not flimsy in any way. What's a good way to circumvent this interference?

On another note, the Garage Journal administrators need to resolve the tags associated with each thread on this forum. The idiosyncratic behavior of many individuals on the forum needs to stop. It's proving the lack of intellect. In the medical community, "we" refer this level of intellect to the lower end of the spectrum. People visit the forum for feedback on how-to's, where-to's, and what-to-do's, we don't need to hear the continued bashing of country of origin and pricing selection of tools.

Snap-On has a ratchet design that protects against this.

It's for when you need intrinsic safety and accidentally flipping the ratchet selector could cause an explosion. If you really need it they even have one with a slightly larger cover where you can stick a LOTO through it to prevent someone from switching the direction on you while you set the ratchet down in the middle of a job. Safety first!

Had to be done franzdom Those tags can be directed to anyone visiting the forums. Brings down the character of the Garage Journal, and every member of the forum, including myself. There's a lot of genuine people on the forum; don't want to bring down their credibility. Lots of useful feedback, but go towards the end of any thread, and the bashing, criticism, and arguments, start.

Awesome, I had a bunch of those 36-tooth Craftsman Round Head ratchets (from the '80s and '90s) laying around. I never favored the lower-tooth count, but for the recent work I did, I could definitely put them back to good use for the next round. Just need to carefully lubricate those ratchets with good old Synthetic Grease.

If you aren't selecting the icon then the admins are doing it to you. I find the latter VERY unlikely so why don't you look at when you start another thread and look to be sure your "Post Icons" doesn't have the thumbs down preselected. Perhaps it's saved with a cookie or something like that.

EDIT: I think I figured out what is going on, and I suspect that when enough people vote on a thread then the icon changes from no-icon to a happy face or a thumbs down.

Thumbs down is the 2nd one in on the top from No icon. It's left of the wink and above the sunglasses.

Thank you everyone for the clarification, now I see where all the frustration was coming from, that silly icon. LOL looks like a question mark from a far distance. Darn it, either I need glasses, or the admins need to enhance that icon so it can be better visible to the naked eye.

I am definitely not a fanboy of any tool manufacturer, nor do I endorse any corporation (i.e. Harbor Freight). I only buy tools which I believe are worthy of buying and will meet my needs. Garage Journal has provided me a better insight; the reviews and physically seeing the tool in person all helps.

I sincerely apologize to everyone for the misunderstanding.

I have Snap On, MAC and Craftsman ratchets. The Snap On have by the highest and easiest to hit direction selector. MAC are well hidden in the head profile. Craftsman are middle of the road.

Not everyone on this forum is tool-oriented, sure they discuss tools, but you don't know who the user really is. Some own the tools, some toss a tool into their wishlist, some just come here to learn. I fit the bill in every category here.

I've already suggested this, but why not consolidate threads and make a Wiki for the questions, answers, and feedback already provided. There are many other users I have come across on this forum and they do the same exact thing I did in recent days; and I ask myself Why did they create another thread, when the search feature exists? The question is not directed to me, but to others as well, in fact The Whole Garage Journal Community. I've already come across someone's response to this inquiry: the reason users of this forum post repeat threads is to refresh a topic and / or to get more feedback from a much broader community.

I'm sure the Garage Journal adds dozens of noob members, enthusiast members, and professional members, to this community everyday.

The local Wera rep broughy some tools for demo and these are pretty sweet. Super small head and 4.7 degree swing arc. It's actually a 38 tooth gear but there are 4 sets of pawl. The pawls are offset so at every click, there are 2 pawls engaged, so it acts like a 76 tooth but with the strength of a 38 tooth.

The tags are a tradition here, they don't hurt anything and most new visitors wouldn't even notice them. They hit only who they are aimed at. They don't need to be curtailed or softened, and they especially don't need to be debated. Nobody likes the hall monitor, not even the crossing guards.

Post nonsense and people will call you out. Accept the facts and that's as far as it goes. Defending nonsense is just making it worse. When you find yourself in a deep hole, it's usually a good idea to stop digging.

Nobody ever said it was unacceptable to start new threads about old topics. Its just painful when its done by a person who clearly hasn't first done a little homework. Great idea, TED should bring its next guest speaker from one of the big tool names in the country, and explain how tools are important to the human mind. If it wasn't for the tools, there wouldn't have been a way to properly repair a patio I worked on over the summer.
