Self-gripping screwdrivers?

I want to buy self-gripping #1 and #2 Phillips screwdrivers. I see differently designed mechanisms that hold the screw securely to the tip. Which of the designs is the preferred one? The types I see work with either e three-pronged claw or with a tip that spreads in the slots.
