OK, I have a concrete deck/slab that surrounds our pool. While the concrete is in decent shape, it slopes away from the garage and I am going to install a Hot Tub and want to form up and make a level pad for the tub to set on.

Thickness may be around 1/2" - 5/8" at the thickest point and to nothing at the one corner of the tub.

I would like to find a self leveling concrete compound that I can form and pour and not have to trowel or work to make smooth. Anyone have any experience with a specific product that works well?

It will be formed up to match the tub base exactly so nothing but the edges will be exposed, but will be outside and not under roof.

Was on Ardex website and looks good, but want some input from some experienced people.

I've leveled off several patios for hot tubs. Always have formed it and used our Texture Pave product. You will to contain what ever you use. I took 1x2's and ripped them to the height I needed. Toe nailed them together and then placed blocks on the edge to keep them in place.

Mark out the the that it's going. Take a straight edge and a level to see just how much you need to trim your forms. gene

That much weight on that thin of an overlay. If the slab has no cracks or expansion joints I would use only one product, Mg-Krete Self Leveling. We taper it to zero without any max end point weight limit.

Our products actually become part of the concrete. Besides, the weight of a hot tub is spread out quite a bit.

pauls340, You can go to www.elitecrete.com and search for all the info you would need because you don't know what you are talking about. I get that question all the time from uninformed home owners. When I send them to industrial sites I've installed with steel wheel traffic and mega huge mobil equipment running on it day and night, they suddenly understand.

I'd be more worried about the mg-krete being installed too thick without aggragate or having to apply it in 2 lifts to be able to feather it out. Learn before you burn.

As far as that goes, he can go get some quick crete sand mix and use that. You will still need to form this out no matter what you use. Once this is done, seal it.

Chevy guy, you will still need to screed it and trowel it.... I don't care how "self leveling" it is.

Thats why I mentioned the quick crete. Get some acryl 60 acrylic additive and mix a little with the water and put it down. This isn't a structural repair. This isn't an architectural install. I do these re-levels for a couple hot tub makers here in Indy.

Actually, dcs, I do know what i'm talking about. You sir don't know a damn thing about Mg-Krete. You sound like a typical competitor. In the real world up here in Michigan, with our weather cycles we tell our customers any contractor who suggests a cementitious product like Quickrete, to run or hang up asap. Instead of spending so much time on this website implying you're an expert, maybe you should school yourself on the products out there that are used to repair all the failed elitecrete jobs. Anytime you use a water additive in a product with our winter weather, good luck. MGK is 100% impervious to water, salt, glycol, antifreeze, gas oil and many other products....even elitecrete can stick to it. As far as distributors that carry Mg-Krete Self Leveling, go on the website and track them down. www.spggogreen.com The two closest in Michigan are Boomer in Detroit and Cougar Rental in Novi. Oh, ps; we do single lift 17" deep repairs at major concrete runways all over N.America at temps from below zero to 110 in Arizonia.

Exactly. Why try to sell a guy something he doesn't need. You started it pal. He needs a filler. It's not a runway. I know all about your over priced product. Anything else you want to ***** about?

Hey NWOhioChevyGuy, while those two are battling over who's got the bigger Johnson, try finding Rapid Set Tru. It's an easy to use self leveling concrete product that would work for your application. I've actually seen some Home Depot's carry it. Good luck.

If you can find a local vendor that will sell it to you, go with ARDEX or SIKA or a BASF product. Anything that is rated for DOT exterior will hold up to most anything up north. Be prepared to spend a few bucks on bag mix for any of the above though
