Self Storing Hose

Can anyone tell me who manufactures a good Spiral hose or Self storing hose? There is alot of junk out there that doesn't last. I am looking for one with a swivel on one end preferably. Some of them have weak wall thicknesses that leak or break pretty quickly. Any Suggestions???

first suggestion would be to explain what you're talking about. Is this for air or water?

I know most of you guys belittle anything from HF, but I bought this hose several years ago on a whim and I've had no problems with it. Hangs from an overhead air supply next to the bench. I've stretched it all over the shop. Had blow nozzles, tire chucks, and air ratchets and impacts on it.

It doesn't have an end swivel, but the quick disconnect serves the same purpose.

Not well, and I hate those things. They're just asking for trouble, IMHO. They can and will break, and when they do, they start swinging rapidly, breaking sharp chunks off and flinging them around a room.

It only took me once to be in the middle of that for me to swear I would never have one around.

For clarification it's for air and looking for a extended lenth of around 20 ft with swivel. The Harbor Freight (Central Compressor) is Junk i have tried it.

I have that exact HF hose and I don't like it much. It kinks and creases too easily. The only time I use it is for sink clogs where I'll take it into the house with my small pancake compressor just to blow 20psi through the drain.

Go to your local heavy truck parts store and get yourself a hose for going between a tractor and trailer.3/8 ID hose and made to take the abuse of being out in the elements and the constant movement between the vehicles.

I hate those!

My Dad had one many years ago. It was on the air line near the bench and he kept a blow gun on it.

I went to use it when it was maybe 5* in the shop and the thing snapped apart like it was made out of ice and whipped me across the face!

Guys, I read all of your bad experiences and I don't know what to say....other than God must truly bless me!

As I said in my first post, it has worked without problem for my 1/4" and 3/8" air rachets and impacts, tire chucks and blow nozzles. (I use the 3/8" rubber hose on the reel for the 1/2" impacts.)

I've had it for over 15 years (we bought this house in '94 and I had it before then) and I've never had the first problem with the hose. I use it exactly as I stated in my first post. I keep the air pressure to the coiled hose regulated down to 40-50# (I have cranked it up to 90-100# several times if I'm using the small air tools on the bench and need a little more "grunt".) I am careful to not kink it, but I haven't babied it and it's been stretched all over the garage.

I would not have recommended it if I hadn't had good results. Obviously others have had less success.
