Sell or move existing garage?

Are there places or people that buy garages and move them is it more work than it's worth for someone?

When I built my garage, I had to get rid of the old one car garage that was there. A company here in Minneapolis came and hauled it away for me, they had a business reselling them. I basically gave it away, but it was cheaper and a lot easier than having to tear it down.

I don't know if they took anything larger than one car garages, since they were easier to haul without having to get permits for oversize loads. They just jacked it up, backed a truck in, lowered it down, and drove away. For that matter I don't know if they're still around, since this was ~25 years ago; you could try calling the number on the side of the truck in the picture below.

I've seen people willing to dismantle a garage then rebuild it somewhere else, does it have trusses, what kind of structure is it, materials etc. people will buy and take it down

He said
"the city" so I assume he has local zoning to consider.
I would go the variance route

It looks like you are putting the new in the back corner of your lot.
I would get a well done set of PICs showing how your wished for set up would look
from various perspectives.
Be sure to show how the new will blend with the old.
Strong horizontal lines to soften the tall look.
Make it pretty, you don't want a yellow tin shed look.
It may not hurt to have a letter from the county on how much the new building will add to your RE taxes.
A letter from the guy behind you saying he doesn't mind would also help.

if i added on and it doesnt make sense to add onto the back of the garage because the ceiling is only 10ft. Also the current garage is only 28ft. Wide so even if I added on I dont think it makes much sense...
Why are you restricted to the exact same width and height of an addition? How about adding the 1160sf on back, make it wider (without interfering with the septic) and higher.

Cant go this route because I would be able to get the RV in there. Door would be on the south side and I would have to drive through the front yard around my house to get there. Would just be a pain in the ***..

Consider the idea from 3onthetree, but raise the roof of the existing structure so you can drive the RV straight through to the new bldg.

How often will you be taking the RV in and out of the building? Could you build onto the back of your current building like mentioned above and put the overhead door for the RV on the back of the addition. Put in a driveway that wraps around along the trees from the north-west corner off the road? For short term storage between trips, just leave it in new driveway out front in the corner of your lot if you don't want to drive it around back?

If you do remove the existing building, how are you going to get to the new location in the back corner? You probably won't be able to drive over the septic so a wrap around drive mine not be too bad?

What I can't figure is how do you plan to drive the RV into your proposed location? You would need to drive over the septic field?

Not sure where your drive is from the satellite pic anyway, but you need maybe 14' extended past the side of the garage to get in a door for the RV? So the confining limit is the leach field, or the setback if you can do this on the other side. Then put an opening on the back wall of the existing garage to pull through other cars.
