I have a one year old KRL 1023 that I'm thinking of selling, black with a couple of small blemishes. What's everybodys opinion on what I should list it for?

60+% of list and hope and pray when the dust settles you can clear 50%. It's uphill business selling truck New/like new tool boxes and always easier to come down in price, versus ask for more.

Good luck.

I'm down sizing back to my matco 4s and using the money to pay some medical bills. I don't owe anything on it.

I got a really good deal on it from a dealer that was closing up shop, only paid $6,000 for it.

I'd honestly check to see if your dealer will sell it for you. I had a big cornwell locker I bought used and hung on my KRL 1022 for a couple of years. I realized it just a junk collector and I didn't really need it. I asked my dealer to see what he would say before I put it on CL. He took some pictures of it and asked what I wanted for it. I paid $500 for it a few years earlier and said if I could get that, I'd be happy, but see what the market will bring. A week later he sold it to a guy for $600, I got my $500, he made a nice little profit with little to no work and I was happy. A tool guy can market it directly to the people who will want it and can finance a big purchase. Now I don't know what kinda deal your dealer would make you, but it is worth asking. Big boxes can be hard to sell on CL because its hard for guys to pony up the money.

Cassidy, where are you located at?

I am looking (not too hard) for a 1023 locally in Oregon.

Just wondered why your selling it after a year?

Maybe he is buying 6 44" HF boxes because they are so great and will hold almost as many tools :lol_hitti

I'd love to find somebody that would trade a krl1023 for my krl7022

I've had my eye on these on CL, 2500-3k seems to be going asking price. Of course there is one clown who has been trying to see his for 4k firm for over a year.

Look on cl and go from there. In mi cl is loaded with boxes for sale and i see them lower them every week of they want to sell them. Snap on,mac and matco boxes are a hard sell to the diy when they can get a great price on hf boxes that hold 75-80% of there value when u go to sell. Seems like most people that biy the truck brands finance them.

Id see if your snap on guy will sell it for u

Id ask 5500 and go down from there. Snappy holds their value.

SO boxes do not hold their value!! (at least relative to MSRP)

He'll do good to get 50% of MSRP. Triple banks are even a tougher sell and I wouldn't be surprised to see closer to 40%. (ie between $4-5k)

Techs will want financing and triple banks are a little too big for most DIY'ers.

+1.. I was scouring Ebay a few minutes ago under "Sold" and lots of Krl 1023's have sold for around 4k +/- with some starting at 4k and sold with a best offer. I suspect tool truck boxes, similar to New cars suffer from the devaluation of big rebates/incentives. I don't envy the OP..

Waiting for the inevitable response asking why he didn't buy two HF 44inchers, or a 56" or 72" in the first place and how it's a much better value for the money. :lol_hitti

Selling a tool.box to pay bills may not be the way to go. Getting good money out of a use box can be hard. Then once the need for money has passed, a new big box looks good again and more money is spent.

Ya after looking I guess your right. Just sayin they seem to hold better than other truck brands.

So few of these boxes are ever bought at MSRP, there is always a deal or promotion for these boxes new off the truck for 20-30 even 40% off msrp, the real resell value seems to be about half that discounted amount.
