I've been trying to sell over 500 sq ft of used RaceDeck on local CL now for about 6 weeks.

I priced it at $2 a tile, which I think is 50% of new, correct me if I'm wrong.

It's not moving. Had a couple lookey loo's and that's it.

Is it priced too high? What am I doing wrong?

Drop to about 1/4 of cheapest price you can find new. Craigslist tends to bring out the cheapest of the cheap.

Price is too high. I bought 500 sq feet of racedeck last November for $1260 shipped. This was for the 16" tiles.

IMO.. the colors is the main issue. You'll have to drop the price if you really want to move them... or offer some kind of delivery w/in a certain radius...

So, you paid $1260/500 = $2.52/sq ft. vs OP who's selling his at $2.00/sq. ft.,

Therefore there is another $0.52*500 = $260 to pay for shipping before someone pays the same as you did. Not sure I understand how it's "Price too high" :headscrat

Curious to see why others said color.

In snake identification red and yellow will kill a fellow.
I think it's that combination that scares people. If it's a handful of yellow. Tell how many of each is for sale in your listing.

Good luck.

CL'ers aren't so good at math..... give examples of how much 600sq ft covers.

20x30
24x25

Detail amount of colors and rails, etc. and put obo in there.

I browse CL for deals. Screaming good deals. A fair price I can get anywhere, ridiculously cheap can only be found on CL. CL is a last ditch effort to make money on something, everyone knows it. Besides, racedeck is kind of a specialty item not all of us are looking for. You may be better off listing elsewhere.

Might want to get ahold of the local car clubs and see if anyone has interest, more targeted audience. Or keep dropping the price until it sells.

Well, to be honest, I wanted to list it here, but not having the requisite 100 posts to put anything in the classifieds, that was out.

I recounted it last night. I have 412 whole, uncut tiles remaining. 260 red, 38 black, and 114 yellow. Then I have probably another 100 that have been trimmed in some way, shape, or form. I'll be including the modified tiles for free.

Previous owner of the house owned a Viper, hence the color choice.

I really think that even used, they're at a minimum, worth $1.25 each. Am I completely off base?

I have duplicate ads in materials, and in tools.

Thanks for all the help guys...going to mod the ad today.

Add all of that to your ad, and maybe an all in price for someone that comes and picks up everything.

To the OP-

To spruce up your ad I'd suggest you use a photo of the garage (or where ever) you used them all set up. That's where the 'wow' factor is w/those tiles.

The installed image of racedeck can be it's own selling point given the right layout.

In other words, when you look at a racedeck ad, you don't see a few different pieces of tile stacked together (like in your CL ad).
You see knock-your-socks-off pictures of it set up in some guys garage next to a dream car, often times w/that cars logo in the middle of the floor. That's what will help you sell it. Along w/the right price, too.

Just my $.02.

HTH,
Will

You do have pictures of it set up in your garage, yes?

Edit- See link w/photo gallery...

I get what you're saying...

it was in the garage when I bought the house, and I never cared for it. I think I may have some pics of the garage around, but not the "showcase" pic that I think you're suggesting. It does give me the idea however, to pull a pic from RaceDeck's website to give people the idea.

Thanks.
