I'm shopping for a 4 GPM 4000 PSI washer. Pump options are AR, Cat, GP, and HP. I'd appreciate a recommendation from someone that has experience with all of them as to is best for long life and rebuildability?

I've read that using pump saver after every use extends the life of the unit. Any opinion on using light machine oil or something to that effect instead of the product in a can?

My landa I’ve had for close to 20yrs would be considered a lite commercial unit. If I needed to do it again they would be one of my first inquiries.

I have a good used (rebuilt) Cat pump with that rating. PM me and I will get the specs on it.

That's a serious PW -- why "semi commercial" ..... seems that is commercial. What are you doing? How often used ?

I have an Excell Devilbiss w/ typical Honda GX Engine -- has to be 15+ years old .... has the AR pump. I changed the oil once with the proper AR oil about 3 years ago. Bought new wand early on as I did not like the original. ... AR is Italian and my pump was made there. They make in USA as well. CAT was from Japan and always highly rated. My memory is GP is from China. I'm sure they all have some production there.

Only use the pump saver when it's stored for the winter ... and some years I forget.

I think the key is to get the GX Honda so you never have to worry about that part of the equipment and spend the money on whatever pump fits the PSI/ flow requirement not made in China. The AP pump was a cost upgrade when I bought mine

The landas of that vintage were tanks.. however, now they are just Karcher units with the landa badges.. Same as Hotsy.
Now all three are being made in Monteray Mexico..

That figures. All good things must come to an end. Thanks for the giant letdown 😖
