Semi-deep 1/2 sockets

Does anyone know of a manufacturer of 1/2” semi-deep sockets, other than snap on?

I realised I needed a set for a mustang suspension job the other weekend, but would rather not spend snap on money for something I won’t use often.

I just went Snap-On semi-deep in impact for 1/2".... and in chrome for 3/8". Semi-deeps are my go-to's. I don't use the regular deeps that often.

It's easy to make a semi-deep if you need one for a specific application. Take a normal HF deep, put it in a vise, and get your cut off wheel in a grinder and within seconds your deep will instantaneously become a semi-deep. I did exactly this to change the rear struts in my Pontiac Grand Prix as I couldn't use a normal socket and the deep socket wouldn't fit. Took an old 13mm deep socket cut her down and got the job done.

Same here, once you go semi deep it’s all you need 90% of the time.

I went Snap On as well, but you only need to buy the key sizes (not set) ie: get 19, 21, 22, 24 and 27

That’s a good point too. Though just make sure the deep socket has a deep broach (generally the cheaper ones do)

Semi deeps or "mid length" sockets are excellent.
They're my go to most of the time. I rarely need the full benefit of a full broach deep socket, but so many times I run into a shallow socket that won't quite do the task.

Gearwrench makes a semi deep chrome, and Capri makes a semi deep impact

If you don't need your semi-deep sockets to have a deep broach and you mainly use hand tools to work on things, the best and most economical move is to probably buy Tekton mini extensions in whatever drive sizes you need. They are very inexpensive and using one turns any regular length socket into a semi-deep. For those who already own semi-deep socket sets, mini extensions are a great way to gain semi-deep socket capability for a portable tool set.

Mini extensions are also helpful when it comes to making custom in-between length extensions, when regular socket extensions can't create the exact length you need.

Genius Tools has a 1/2" drive semi-deep thin wall impact set with 15-pieces up to 24mm (DI-415M). GP and Sunex only make 3/8" drive semi-deep socket sets, up to 19mm.

Going out on limb and ask what model Mustang and what part? Have redone suspensions on S550s, SN95, an S197 chassis and have needed semi deeps. Have 5 mustangs in the driveway, I'm no expert just experienced.

2005 s197 GT. The rear nut on the front wishbone. I got it done with a regular socket, but it was only just on there due to the length of the bolt stopping the socket seating all the way.

I love my semi deeps. Before I had real semi deeps, I had the SK sockets that are only a little longer than the Carlyle semi deeps (which are a little longer than the Snap-on and ICON semi deeps).
