K-D tools makes good stuff, I wish it were still made here though (they are made in Taiwan).

Also Lisle I believe makes a set which are US made.

I have never heard of OTC before? Not too much of a price difference between those with shipping and the KD brand from Sears which is local.

WOW! I was hoping Snap-On sold a small set like the ones you and I posted with a case? I cannot find anything like that on their site. Anyone know if they have in the past?

I bought an O2 sensor socket from Snap-On 11 years ago and used it once. The quality of this tool is sub par. First of all the socket walls spread at the gap when you apply torque to the tool. Second of all, the chrome began to chip/peel off after this one and only use.

Maybe I will wait for another sale and pick up the KD Tools from Sears....

OTC stands for Owatonna Tool Company, as in Owatonna MN they make good stuff and it usually costs some $, I am surprised that set is so cheap.

OTC makes a ton of stuff for OEMs and others.

Lots of vehicle-specific specialty tools (goofy stuff like Torsion Bar Pullers) are made by OTC.

ETA: If I'm reading this correctly, OTC/Rotunda/SPX/Kent Moore are all the same conglomerate:

There's OTC and OTC Stinger. All of the OTC Stinger line is made in China. There are some OTC tools made in the US but, more are made in Taiwan or China now days.

I don't see the need for an O2 socket at all. If you are removing the O2 sensor it is only to replace it so why not snip the wire off and get after it with a conventional deep socket or crowfoot depending on your application, at least that is what I do. After all, it takes little effort on the installation end.

Actually the idea of the whole special socket set for seding units and sensors sounds good as long as you get a set like the KD set for nominal cost.

Well, I am intending on purchasing a set so I think KD would be the way to go after user comments.

I am looking to buy the set because I want one, not necessarily because I have to have it...lol

I have used them and the quality (Taiwan) seems OK for my non pro use.
This is the brand that Advance Auto and other parts store have as the loaner sets.

I understand your "need" for these. I however have never seen the "need" for them. I have not run across a sensor i couldn't remove with a standard wrench. I guess I'm just lucky.

Oh, and from what I understand, the HF set is pretty good!

Well what started all of this was the need to replace my Oil Pressure?sending Switch in my 99 Dodge Ram QC 4X4. It is located behind the motor just to the left of the distributor. There is no possible way to get it with a wrench. However a 1 1/16" socket would probably do it but decided I would have to spend $60.00 at the shop in labor so might as well get some new tools and do it myself...

It has a Distributor? You can get a 1 1/16 socket on it but not a wrench? I think I would spend the money on the big socket and get more than one use out of it. Still, I see your point. No one has ever had to push me into buying a tool that I might only need once!!!!

It does have a distributor but there is no way to back in there with a regular 1 1/16" wrench. I wish I had a picture I would show it. It has the 5.9 litre and everything is crammed back in there...lol

and yeah, I might just need it once but at least I will always have them if needed plus it makes my tool collection larger...lol
