Separating a tie rod end. How ?

I recently changed out a steering box on a 2000 Tahoe. The pitman arm absolutely would not come off. I tried hammers, heat, gear pullers and anything else I could think of. Eventually using a pitman arm puller like shown above on the other end of the pitman arm was what worked. I just replaced the pitman arm with the box. They don't always surrender peacefully. This is the first one I've had put up that much of a fight though.
