Separating Dirty Toys form Clean Toys

Have a 40 x 50 shop with three different overhead doors. One is smaller, and I use it for my dirty tool storage (tractor, shovels, sprayer, etc.).

The rest of the shop will be more for cleaner toys (car/plane work, etc.), proper man cave, etc. Shop was a nice epoxy floor.

The shop is totally open, and I'm interested in seeing peoples pictures of how they've separated the areas or arranged them so that muddy toys are segmented. I don't want to put any permanent walls as it seems liek that limits utility, but I'm intersted in how others have done it or arranged things.

Thanks,
Scott

Those thick vynal curtain walls can do wonders and can be pulled out of the way when not needed

If it was me I think I would look at getting a storage container. Put all the dirty stuff in that and keep out of the shop.
The tractor could even go in the container but it is easy to hose off a dirty tractor to pull in into a clean shop

If you don’t want a separate container you could also build some closets along the wall just inside the door. Dirty stuff goes in there and close the doors

I totally agree with the idea.

I hate having a lawnmower and trash/recycling cans in my garage, but I can't leave them outside.

Unfortunately I can't offer a non-permanent solution. I have a wall and a man door to the dirty side. I keep my air compressor in that side too so I never have to listen to it and I can just drain the tank in the floor without worrying about the yellow water stains.

I did a permanent wall in my shop to separate the clean from the dirty. For me the clean area is for the smaller machine shop and the large area is for fab work and repair of cars/trucks/tractors/other dirty farm equipment. You can see it in my build below.

Frame some walls with metal stud and screw off some 1/4" plywood, trim and paint and attach to the floor with a non-destructive means like double sided sticky tape. This is how I segment off construction areas on floors that can not get damaged. If you really want to seal out any dust, install visqueen between the studs and the sheeting. Then if the day comes you want that space back, throw it away.

Not exactly what I expected to see after reading the thread title, but I'm glad it turned out OK... :lol_hitti
