Has anybody out there ever cut the motor and pump mounting from the tank and made a remote setup of the system? I have an Ingersoll Rand 7.5hp and 80 gal. tank.

Why not just make a new mounting plate and bolt the pump and motor to that? That way you're not cutting on the tank and making irreversible changes.

Guess that doesn't really answer your question, but something that came to mind. :)

I second lametec's comment. Make a new plate. Cutting the plate off the tank has the potential to damage the tank if you aren't careful - not something you really want to have happen to a pressure vessel! :shocking:

The pump and motor do not have to be mounted to the tank. It's a convenient place, though.

I agree that the orig tank mount should be left alone. Make a new plate and call it done.
