Did a post a couple days ago for some input on a serpentine belt helper tool. Some of you had made your, own so being the cheapskate that I am I decided to take your advice and give it a try myself. Bought a piece of 3/16" steel rod at HD for $3.50, bent up a handle, welded up a hook on the end and came out with a 36" long helper hook thingamajig for getting belts to go where you want them. Not eactly rocket science, but a fun little project nevertheless.

neat idea, now what would be cool would be to make one out of same diameter rod as a snap on handle and tap that on the end rather than the loop.... just thinking the loop could get in the way at times

Good project. If your (political) election candidates use those hoop style signs with the plastic bags pulled on over them.............help them clean up afterwards. Those hoops are 3/16" dia. and a lot better quality (stiffness) than any mild steel rods you can buy at HD. Something like bed rail stuff.

Good for other DIY projects too! Just used some to re-inforce a bottom bracket bike wrench I made.

you can buy one for under 12.00..just doesnt seem worth the time and effort to make one.
