I finally finished hooking up the wires to my shed last night, and got to turn on the power. I had a 400 amp meter base installed when the house was built, and this is split to 2 200 amp disconnects. One disconnect has a 200amp breaker that feeds my house panel, and a 100 amp breaker that feeds a panel I put in my basement. The other disconnect has a 200 amp breaker for a future shop (not built yet), and I put in a 60 amp breaker to feed my shed.
One thing I noticed (that I should have realized), is that in order for my 60 amp breaker to have power, the 200amp breaker has to be on. Makes sense, just didn't think about it. Are there any issues with me leaving the 200amp breaker on, even though it isn't hooked up to anything. I don't think so, just want to be safe. In case it helps, here's a pic I took a while back, only change now is there is a 60 amp breaker on the bottom with wire going to my shed.
