I'll start! I'm an HD mechanic apprentice, work in an open pit mine. Boss told me to take one of the old pit trucks and outfit it for some mobile work so I have my own dedicated truck. Just some underbody style boxes bolted on, full of the basics to get most pieces going again, as well as a first aid kit and fire extinguisher. Big repairs are made in the shop.

As far as improvement goes, more tools, storage and oxy/fuel torches and a compressor would be nice! I'd like to have a full on service truck one day, whether that's with a dealer or contracting we'll see!

Left the road tech biz a year ago. Rolled an '08 F350 with a knapphide KUV body. Truck served my needs great. Had a company supplied craftsman combo in it. For as much as people day craftsman boxes are junk, they held up just fine. I own a SO kra 62 road box, but it didn't fit the side compartment. Now that I'm out of the dealer, I do a healthy little side work on skidsteer and such. With a hard tonneu cover on the truck, my F150 actually works pretty good. A standard 6 drawer top box has served my well, but its on its last leg. In the middle right now of what I want to get to replace it.

I really don't use a typical box on mine, the needs are very rudimentary. On big truck a nut and bolt bin, some pipe fittings and some steel. The whole thing is about like an Ironwoker gang box with a little hardware

this was my last truck, oct of last year.

'06 F 550 SD PSD 11ft Monroe body w/autocrane.

it's since been replaced with a '15 chevy silverado 3500 HD 4x4 6.0 gasser with a KUV body.

i'll have to get some pics of it one of these days.

still have the same toolboxes, but the truck has a lot more room for parts storage, and is more organized.

the chevy is tipping the scales @ 12.5K lb's with a 1/2 tank of gas...

Here is our truck, before the new box. Now the box actually matches the truck.



It's a 97 F-250 with a 7.3. We use it for everything, installs, service, hauling scrap, daily driver, etc. We put in garage doors, in case you didn't figure it out. It's nothing special by any means, but it gets the job done everyday. It is starting to really show it's age though, as it sits now it has 252,*** miles. The only real complaint I have about it is that it is too small, we have no room left in it. It's not that we need to carry more parts or anything, but the box is full and we have a Pack Rat in the bed that is full. So there is hardly any room left to haul anything in the bed.

This is our other truck, it's a back up for when the main truck goes down. This is when we had the box painted, it has a ladder rack on it now. It is also a 97 F-250 with a 7.3.



Hopefully, hopefully, next spring we will have a brand new F-450 or F-550 with an 11' service body. It will take the place of the main truck and the main truck will take the place of the back up.

Your old crafty tool chest looks like it has a million hard miles on it. I'm surprised it has held up as a road box.

I'm wanting to get a big road chest I can forklift onto my truck. Thinking of the Mac MB9009 Road Box, anyone have one of these?

Here's mine when I bought it. Chevy 3500 RWD Dually with the 6.0. It has a 8'-9' knaphied body. I love the truck and Need to start organizing!
Also the nice thing it only has 29k and is an 05

Yes it's lived a hard life. Bought it back in '99 and it.lived in the back of my truck back and forth from work/home/ race shop until '04 when I put it in my service truck. I'm in my 4th truck now. It's pretty beat up but hasn't fallen completely apart yet.

not quite a million miles, more like 350K in my service truck...LOL
