Been cutting down trees for years but...

If it's "iffy", get help in a jiffy.

Could have been alot worse. More trees to go and stumps.
Here's where it was supposed to go, just like it's twin.

Eww that's not fun, how bad is it?

I'm guessing you grow trees in Florida like we do; real fast. After a cyclone (hurricane) 30 years ago everyone planted African mahogany trees because they grew fast and are shady. Just one problem when they get big (read 30 years) they have a tendency to fall over after a lot of rain and a strong wind. Yep like you we get lots of rain and lots of wind, DOH. Should be a tree crushes house story in the paper any day now!!!

Did anybody see this happen? Yes = see next question, No = ignore it.

Was this your fault? Yes = see next question, No = ignore it.

Can you blame someone else? Yes = you are fine, ignore it. No = ignore it.

Ouch,
Maybe it'll all work out, the first day on my project my GC dropped a limb on the overhead power line...proceeded to try and get it off and got a 18k volt shock that blew out the breaker on the whole block! Lucky for him he was suspended from a rope and not grounded. Should have been a warning for me to do the job myself.
See, yours isn't so bad...

That's funny! It would be nice to not have myself to blame but it's probably better this way. I'm thick-skinned and can handle the ribbing better than some of my brothers.

As far as damage, it slammed through the plywood right between the trusses and never even touched them! Two large branches on either side of the oak slowed it down considerably and the top just layed down into the one spot and rested on the top row of concrete blocks.

My wife's brother did the repairs in a day and left the soffit and facia for me to finish up. Friends and family are very good to me!

You have to have thick skin to do work like this. 95% of the time, things go as planned but that 5% can be ugly - even fatal. I have lost two good friends to timber. That's the risk of doing such a dangerous task - the good times are good but the bad times make you want to crawl under a rock!

There is nothing like landing a tree within inches of where you need to land it and there's nothing like the adrenaline rush you get when you see something headed in an unexpected direction!

Good to see you have some support from your Bro-in-law.
