Ok, so i learned a few lessons from the last place and now I think I know what I want.

This new shed is 12x9m (30x40) and the roller doors are at the galble end.
all the pics I have taken so far are of the western wall, this is the first part i need to get done before summer hits, It gets F..king hot here and this shed will be a sauna if i dont get it insulated and lined.

Down the bottom right (NW corner) of the shed there will be a shower and toilet, south of this will be the bar and the SW side of the wall will be my work bench and tool area.

i am in the process of adding a 6x4m extension on the south wall, this area will be for my lathe and metal work section, keeps the rest of the shed tidy for parties and race cars etc.

outside the north wall of the shed is an inground swimming pool, so we will put a glass sliding door in place of the window that is there, it should be a good entertainment area.
here are a few pics.

pressure cleaned this out 6 times in the freezing cold.

2k paint.

1st sheet and insulation going on. this is the western wall.

few more sheets..... ran out of insulation.

some ebay shelving to put all my junk on.

some more insulation and a couple more sheets of 1/2" MDF

Any ideas on what i can do with the ceiling?
There is no insulation or drip check.

should i remove the sheets and roll out some aircell type of insulation or should i just use the woolen type (same stuff as i used in the walls) and line the ceiling with thin ply or roofing iron or something?

anyway, I have a long way to go here and im getting plenty of inspiration from this forum, its great!!

Cheers, Justin.

Good looking place you have there Justin! You made a good start insulating. Should make a big difference. Not sure which type of insulation is recommended for the ceiling so I'll leave that to the experts. You certainly added some industrial strength shelving ! That should hold just about anything you throw up there! The floor came out very nice, really brightens it up. I'm not sure what you final plans are for the mdf walls but if I might make a suggestion: Use an oil based primer before painting. If your MDF is anything like our it will start to fall apart if exposed to direct moisture. Once primed you should be able to paint with whatever paint you like.
It's funny. When I was reading and you said it was freezing while you were pressure washing, I did a double take! It's anything but freezing around here. Then I saw the right hand drive car and figured it out.
Good luck with the project. Should come out very nice when it's done. Keep us posted on your progress.

Hurry up and get that shed done. Your white car has an emergency you need to fix right quick. The steering wheel done moved to the wrong side.

Nice space. Yes, invest your time and $ on a good vapor barrier and it will pay you back. Ceiling, too!

And welcome aboard!

Judging by the XF ute in your avatar, we maybe in a similar part of the world.
Recommend air cell under the roof both as a sarking to catch condensation and as reflective insulation for summer, I use in roof spaces stapled to underside of rafters so there is an air gap between tin and insulation, good for about a 5 degree temp drop on a 45 degree day (celsius).

without a vapour barrier on the walls I would use 6mm foamboard , enough for our climate. If the fibreglass gets damp from condensation the r value drops to nothing any way.
Foilboard with the joins taped and tight will be a good vapour barrier as well.

With any of the insulation make sure top and bottom are sealed tight as mice are bastards and love to nest in both foamboard and fibreglass :)

Nice pallet shelving. Did you find used stuff or is it new? There's a lot of used stuff available in my area. Just wondering what a good price is?

New Ebay stuff, it was cheaper than the secon hand ones that i found, its not that heavy though....., only tared 220lbs / 100kgs per shelf.

Gday Bones,

Thanks for the input, id like to chat more about your ideas if possible?

****** mice have been horrendous this year and we have just bought this place on the edge of town, so im certain that it is a bigger problem here...

I dont want a smelly mice problem in my shed.....

its a bit hard to see, but the shed is full of concrete dust from the saw we were using to cut a hole in the floor for the shower base.
