New guy here:
Lived on acreage years ago, then moved in the city. Wife and I have a contract on a nice house / acreage with a wonderful 40'x30' steel building. It's on 3 acres. We close in August...can't wait to move in!
Building is tall, concrete floor throughout, but has no power. Does have skylight that runs length of the roof, right at the peak.
Will be for projects and to house my 1972 Chevy K-20 4x4, two Polaris ATV's, JD garden tractor, 16' fishing boat, hunting stuff. I have 60 gallon 220v compressor and mig welder, as well as good set of tools, etc.
My plan going forward:
- run power to the shed (220)
- run CAT6 for internet access (have a garage laptop already)
- install lighting, preferably LED shop lights
- workbench, cabinets, storage...
- installing window(s) to bring in more light, increase air flow
- ceiling fans or other fans to help with airflow
- driveway from shed to the main road, likely gravel/rock
- pegboard...love me some pegboard...
Things I'm considering:
- running water line for a garage sink and to use power washer. I'm okay shutting off water in winter and blowing out lines
- brother suggested wood burning stove
- thought about building a loft, increase storage space
Suggestions for things to do / not do in a building this size? Thanks! D.
