Seven Corners Hardware, a St. Paul landmark, to close. After more than 80 years, the West Seventh hardware store has sold out to a private developer.

Sorry to hear that. Most of the ones around here went out too. One was in business for 50 years, the other was around almost 100. Both family owned. One guy told me he's ready to retire, and none of his kids want anything to do with the store. That sucked. I was going there for 20 years. The other one, 80% of the business was commercial sales. When the factories moved out/closed, business went way down. They had to sell.
We have one left. He's still going strong. They don't sell lumber, but contractors keep him busy. He has it, has seen/done it, and knows the business.
It ***** to see this. I'm sure it's happening all over the country, too.

How sad. I bought my first Leatherman tool there about 35 years ago while working with 3M. I'd always go back there when visiting the 3M Center. It was a wonderful store.

At least there will be sales... I loved that place. That literally had everything, and if possible it was US made over imported.

Many years ago they used to run double page ads in "Fine Homebuilding" magazine. Their prices were the best I could find & they were great to deal with -- I was young & single [more money to spend!] & bought a lot of my power tools from them. Very sad to hear they are closing -- another victim of the world as we know it now -- not like it was back then for sure.

Sad situation, but a sign of the times, with the never ending battle for the $$$$$ by the big box stores moving in and selling more and more disposable **** that isn't worth fixing.
I too remember reading their ads for years, never bought from them, being from Canada.
