I live in old Victorian home which is falling apart and I doubt anything is up to code in this place! I have a plumbing question for all you plumbers out there. My landlord just installed a new toilet which is great. There is a drain pipe which runs down the side of the house , outside my bathroom window that splits at the bottom - my guess is it drains to the sewer and the capped part is so you can access the pipe to clear blockage etc... a couple of years ago I heard water gushing outside my window and when I looked out I noticed the cap had come off and my toilet, sink and tub water were gushing out. Every time I flushed it was , well say no more. Plumbers came to make sure it wasn't clogged and then replaced the cap since the old one was a 100 years old. Now a couple years later days after getting my new toilet , the same gushing sound was heard and the cap has once again blown off. I have had no plumbing issues and since I'm familiar with old Victorians, I am very careful about what gets flushed and what goes down the drain etc...could it be my new toilet with turbo flush is to powerful? My old one had a very dainty flush compared to this one. I just discovered this mess and will be contacting my landlord who happens to be a plumber but also happens to be an idiot.
