Thought I'd start a build thread to help keep myself on schedule and to ask a few questions along the way!
Esentially what I've got is a carport that "attempted" to become a 1.5 car garage. To make a long story short never pulled permits/checked into anything (was under the impression that I needed only a foot distance between the property line but apperently it's 8ft....). My plan is to remove the half finished add-on, in close the carport and make it a single car, and get it dialed in.

Started today ripping as much out as I could and attempted removing all the **** that has accumulated in here. uploadfromtaptalk1444611708976.jpg

Plan on making a few runs too the dump tomorrow and hopefully figure out the best plan of attack is. I've got no idea in how to tear this thing down. My 1st plan was to bust it out and slide the wall over but I think that I would be better off starting fresh framing a new wall and then dealing with the rest.

Anyone have a idea or tips on how to get this disaster zone down?
Here are some more pics. uploadfromtaptalk1444611946985.jpguploadfromtaptalk1444611965544.jpg

In the second pic is that header board where the wall need to be?

Still trying to get a grasp of what your trying to due?

I'd build the wall where it needs to be and then brace up the rafters,

Then take down the outside wall

Just my off the hip thoughts

The title got my attention. I see it got Sublime's too. No small wonder!

I'd have done the exact same thing as you. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the responses.
I'm just about done. Got the man door installed, most of the siding up, frame roughed in for the garage door anchored the new wall down, and the rest of the nightmare taken down. uploadfromtaptalk1445820188589.jpg
Wasn't too sketchy to rip down untill the end, that's when it was final cuts with the Sawzall and running.

Tomorrow I'm planning on finishing up the siding (need a new blade for my saw and some more screws) and picking up some insulation and maybe the main garage door.

I'm hoping to get my sub panel installed before it gets much colder so I went out and grabbed a 100A panel today. Worst case scenario I can temp hook everything up to the existing power.
uploadfromtaptalk1446062570349.jpg
I don't plan on running much out here, air compressor, lights, a few outlets and maybe a welder but that's a ways down the road.
My main panel outside is about 60ft away and is 100A. Eventually I want to upgrade it too 200A but that's not the highest on my priority list.uploadfromtaptalk1446062266513.jpguploadfromtaptalk1446062306881.jpg
I have a extra un used 220 outlet in my basement that I don't see ever using and plan on using that space to power my sub. Now I've got too figure out what wire to run, what kind of conduit to use (plan on running it along the lower part of the house under my deck and into the garage), and if this is even possible haha.

Garage door is in!
Took me and a Buddy most of the day to build the frame and get it in (first time installing a garage door). I'll get some more/better pics in the am when there is light uploadfromtaptalk1446428501901.jpguploadfromtaptalk1446428551238.jpg.
Went with the basic 9x7 from HD. Planning on putting a opener in later this year.
All that's left is to put the siding up around it and install some weather stripping[emoji1].

Any advice on what type of light to put on the side above the man door? I'm leaning towards a dusk to dawn or motion. Thanks guys!

Any chance someone could verify my plan to install a sub panel? I've read a bunch of threads here and other sources online and I think I've got it figured out but I'd feel a lot better about it if someone who has better knowledge gives their opinion. I really appreciate it.
So I've got 100A main service. My plan is to use a 50A breaker to feed my panel using 2-2-2-4 AL SER in 1.5" PVC conduit. Thanks guys uploadfromtaptalk1446962958958.jpg
The breaker that's circled is the space I plan on using.

Finally finishing up the insulation. There is so much **** in here I'm overwhelmed haha. I picked up a few shelving units from Lowe's and HD on Black Friday hoping to get some of it off the ground. I decided I'll just attempt the side panel and hope for the best. Want to new to me Quincy hooked up.

Looks like you are making amazing progress. I assume you decided to frame in the wall before removing the addition? Wasn't quite clear how you decided to do that . I suggest posting the Electrical question in the electrical section of the forum. There are some guys that really know their stuff there. Good luck and keep up the good work. Keep the pictures coming.

Thanks. I did frame the wall before removing the addition, seemed like the best way to go about it. Get the easy part done first haha.

Well the drywall never happened, had the roof replaced and that drained a majority of the funds and blocked my driveway off for a week (dumpster right next to the door). But a few small updates:
Won this on a auction site

Picked it up to use as a second storage tank for my air compressor.

Gotta figure out all the extra stuff on it and make sure it'll hold air.
realized how much of my own projects were at work and decided to bring a few home to help there.
My '60 Li125 cutdown project and the parts for my small door V90, frame is at the sand blasters now. Still have all my Sportster stuff there and a Foosball table haha.
d33f84f216296f8b8861c2e78163ec7a.jpg
.
And did some horse trading for this...
4e02942586d75436c616c3903d37a4c0.jpg

It's all there just have it apart to replace the cables, harness, and boil out the gas tank. Thinking about getting a temp storage unit to store some of this stuff so I can actually have room to work.
If the weathers good Sunday I'm forcing my self to go grab the drywall.
