Hey All,

I'm reading up on this company and I'd like to see your examples of their hand tools...
I couldn't find a similar thread already covering the MF brand
-(that just sounds rude!) :lol_hitti

Post your pics, please! :)

Here's what I have, thus far:

This 4" plumb bob is listed in the 1939 catalog, on page 142.

I picked up a MF 900 at a Florida engine show that was plenty rusty for $2. I figured I would have lot more than 2 bucks worth of fun refurbishing it. After several sessions in the ****** tank it didn't look too bad. I think it was a cheaper version of the #9 plane. The adjusting wheel was plated steel and the tote (handle) was birch or some other plain wood. I'll post a picture when I'm done with it.

Picked this up at a going-out-of-business sale - $2.50! The wheel guards were mangled and there were no tool rests, so my plan is to use it as a buffer. I put new bearings in it just to have a fresh start on the next 25 years of use.

It has some markings from an old GMC dealership stamped into it.

The plane is Elroy's. That tenite is very cool, but no, my brace knob is painted wood of some kind. I also have this Sogard brace and I'm told they took possession of the Millers Falls designs for their braces. I don't know if they still make them, but this one looks almost like new.

Just got this off of fleebay the other day.. It hasn't gotten here yet, but seemed like an OK deal. Would have obviously been better if I lived next door, but still a(n) (allegedly) vintage US working bench grinder for under $50 deliveredd to my door isn't too bad. I wish it had a little more HP, but it will be my go-to polisher.

Very interesting.

That's a re-branded Weller D-550 soldering iron:

They're excellent soldering irons for stuff beyond small electronics. For a buck, you got a huge you ****.

Are any of you aware that the Millers Falls name has been resurrected in a line of the usual less-than-stellar import tools?

Here's a couple of images of the packaging from the new stuff:

The display included Millers Falls branded hammers, screwdrivers, pry-bars, 1/4" and 3/8" combination drive stubby ratchets, sockets, tape measures, LED flashlights, Leatherman clone, pruning saws, hatchets, and a variety of consumables like wire brushes, utility knives, scrapers, etc. Basically all at the lower-end of the quality scale IMO, but everything has a "lifetime warranty" for whatever that's worth.

IIRC, my dad used to curse Millers Falls tools. I recall him saying that they used a lot of goofy threads on their products.

Millers Falls wasn't alone in that. All the old hand plane makers did it. Stanley was notorious for using proprietary screw shapes and sizes. Probably so users would have to buy replacement parts only from them, and possibly in some cases to get around the numerous similar hand plane patents.
