This same nonsense, perpetrated by the same 3 people over and over, ruins every single thread about someone asking to install a 240v circuit.
There's historical precedent for that nomenclature, and evidence/proof of it has been posted multiple times. It causes no confusion at all. We all know exactly what someone is talking about when they say "110/220". Saying "tHerE's nO SuCH tHiNg aS 220 iN tHe uS" is not helpful and may actually cause even more confusion. You're just being a pedant and you KNOW the entire thread is going derail the moment you post that sentence. So just freaking stop because it's beyond irritating seeing every single newbie's thread being completely driven off the rails, every single week.
If you just really, truly have no self control and HAVE to correct someone, use something like this, which is far less inflammatory and far less likely to derail the thread: "P.S: I know 110/220 is commonly used to describe voltages in the U.S., but it is now actually 120/240. Just an FYI to hopefully avoid any confusion."
I'm just going to start reporting posts where someone says "tHerE's nO SuCH tHiNg aS 220 iN tHe uS". It's purposely inflammatory and unhelpful. At this point, it's clear the same 2 or 3 people are doing it over and over to create arguments and get people riled up.
