sharpening question

This might be a stupid question but I've never had to sharpen anything before so what's the best technique to do it? what i need to sharpen are garden tools mainly pruners loppers and shears i do have a sharpening stone also a dremal and grinder not sure what the best route is thanks for any info gj

I would probably use a stone by hand. But if you really don't feel comfortable doing it, you can take it to a knife store to have them sharpen them.

For most digging garden tools, a file is sufficient. a stone would be pretty slow.

For shears they are harder, and you need a grinder, but a Dremel is NOT a good choice and a std bench grinder isn't either as it spins too fast and you can over heat the blade easily.

One of the old fashioned hand crank grinders can do well, if you a) have one, and b) can get the stone to run true...
