Shear Brake Roll question

I have a Jet SBR 40N that I am trying to get tuned up.

On the shear, it cuts good for the 1st part of the cut, then just folds the metal.

There are 3 adjustment points. Two on each end of the table, and 1 center on the back.

My problem is that is cuts fine at all three adjustment points, but between the points it wants to fold.

Any ideas?

I'm assuming it's a 40" shear? Is there a way to shim the shear head closer to the table? Usually, there's an adjustment to bring the whole shear head closer to the table, and then back off the 3 adjusters. Maybe a picture of your shear? Bill

The shear is rated at 20G.

I'm cutting 22G mild and some 20G zinc.

The main adjusters are on the table, with a fine adjustment screw on the back of the upper blade.

I've made several attempts at shimming with brass stock and paper of different weights.

Pic 1; shear w/ hold down removed

Pic 2; Adjustment point at each end. Adjustment screw is on bottom side.

Pic 3; Upper cutter as close to lower cutter as I can make it, and still pass by.

Pic 4; Backside adjuster screw.

Pic 5; Clean cut paper at all three adjustment points.

Pic 6; Folded paper from between adjustment points.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
