Hi Guys

I'm running my 4x9 sheets of ply vertically. How would you layout the sheets:

  • 5x4' - end with 1x2'
  • 3x4' - 1x2' - 2x4' (or similar)

IIRC the two end panels are sheer panels so have to be 4', no?

Thanks

Mark

Not knowing how your wall is built, I might consider putting one row of 4x8 horizontal, top, bottom or middle.

That would require 2 rows of blocking though wouldn't it?. I'm doing double studs at every sheet joint and also using horizontal LP smart panel (4x8 sheets)

How are the studs spaced? Actually it sounds like you still designing / laying out the framing. If so, and assuming 16" OC spacing, I suggest putting the odd amount at one corner. Someday someone is going to be hanging something on the wall - a discontinuity in the middle could be a problem.

The design is done and plans approved, just trying to iron out the details. Doing 24 oc with trusses over studs. (Single story (not allowed to do more), no attic storage, etc.). The walls are going to be about 8' 8" high, so I got 4'x9' plywood. I wanted to do at least the shear walls with a single piece and figured doing it all vertical saves doing blocking. I reckoned horizontal Smart Panel would help with rigidity.
