Moved to a new property with 2 acres (2004 house, was a foreclosure). Has the cookie cutter cramped 2 car garage. Plans are to add a shed, and then a new 800 sq ft workshop (once i sell the old house).

Anyways, onto the shed. Nowhere on the property is level, and the layout is more or less a longer rectangle as apposed to a square so it's about 1/2 acre wide or so and then 4 acres deep with the back half the property being woods. Wife didn't want to block the woods view so we put it on the side of the property to keep the backyard free and block off the neighbors RV.

Onto the pics!

The difference in height was more than a foot so we started making a retaining wall. Dug the 16 holes on a Saturday and poured a little concrete in all the holes.

Next day we set the posts and put the top row of PT 2x's.

more 2x's another day

After spending a week in Arkansas and then a week in Illinois could get back on the project. Stone time.

I don't know what the flip happened. I calculated the area inside and it was 13 yards, so converted that to tons was supposed to be multiply by about 1.5. Shopped around for stone and the cheapest place had a 20 ton minimum, so only 1 ton extra or about 5%. I spread out what I could the first day and then came to realize it just was way too much to pack down. Next day I removed 51 wheelbarrows worth (or about 1530 shovels full) which about equaled 8.5 yards extra removed that I piled on the side of the house to figure out what to do later. I have no clue how I could have been that far off but o well. Was still only $270 delivered for all the stone.

Now leveled out and ready for the shed!

The base is 14x26, the shed will be 12x24. I bought it used off of Craigslist. It's from 2005 and was the personal shed of one of the main shed builders in Lancaster county. I thought it was a heck of a deal for $2900 plus $150 delivery. Pricing it out at a place like Stoltzfus this would be a $6000 shed so I was happy with the price.

It came pre-wired with a few outlets and a light in the middle, the porch is trex decking, vinyl sided, and all the trim, doors, and shutters are some kind of composite engineered material. Has a mini loft above the porch area with a ladder to throw lightweight **** so it isn't all wasted space. Has the man door, the double arch door, and then a roll-up door on the side. The pics above are at where it sat when I bought it, shed will be delivered this week.

Is that PT wood ok for earth contact? I saw some some info a while back and the reg PT wood isn't, but the "all weather" stuff that has dimples on it is. Think it might have been on the show "Hometime" that plays here on PBS.

From what I have heard normal PT is OK for earth contact. All the shed manufacturers use them for the 4x4 skids and 2x4 joists and they seem to hold up OK.

Weather and road permit permitting the shed will be here at 8 AM on Wednesday, right after my conference call with US,South America, Europe, China, and Australia. We do that from 6-8AM so everyone is only a little screwed.....

Here is my quick sketch of the property layout.

Got it delivered yesterday!!! The trailer the use was sweet! The trailer had multiple hydraulic rams that allowed it to push back and tilt, but then also could pivot left/right. They did all that to center the back side of the shed, then pulled away some, then the last 3 feet of the trailer is independant from the rest so that could pivot left/right as well to get the front lined up. Dropping it off and getting it square only took 10 mintes.

Time to start filling it with ****.

need to build a ramp for the garage door side yet, its gonna hae to be a heck of a long ramp for the mower to get up there without sliding.

Looks great, but why didn't you have it turned around the other way with the garage door on the other end? No ramp needed then and it would look nicer from the road and house. Just asking

Or you could bring the mower in the side door with a smaller ramp.

The shed looks great. But as they say, "Space creates vacuum". You will find plenty of stull to fill this and then you can start to plan the second shed!

Since i bought it used, i didnt have any options on how it was configured so if i would have turned it to have the garage door on the uphill side, my little porch thing would have a great view of nothing but the neighbors RV.

I think my wireless router reaches out there
