Shed doors.

Hi.
I'm going to make some new shed doors and I would like to know what is the best way to go about it. I got a price on two roller doors and it was going to cost me about $1700 installed and no cheaper to install my self.
The opening is 3000mm wide x 2100mm high. I would like them to look like 1940s style garage door so I was going to clad them in timber with small windows at the top.
So should I make the frame out of steel for strength and so it won't sag or rot or just make the whole thing from timber?
I'm a cabinetmaker by trade so woodwork is no problem and I can weld good enough to slightly save my self.
I'm going to put new post in which will be 65mmsquare steel to attach the doors to.
Any advice and pictures of cool doors you have made or seen would be awesome.

DF,

IMHO steel frame would be the go 1.6 mm say 32 x 32 or 40 x 40 SHS with a diagonal brace, then clad it with timber or iron to suit the rest of the shed.

65 x 65 posts will do the job nicely.

Elgate make some nifty rollers and tracks that if they are put in right and work well, alternately you could swing the doors.

Post a pic to give us a butchers hook (look).

This is the doors so far for my shed. I'll be cutting a hole to the left for another set of doors that look the same. The open section on the right door is for a small entrance door.View media item 47471
I have a small problem with the doors as the are 1440mm wide and the ply I was going to clad them in is only 1220mm wide.
This is the style I was going to make
View media item 47472I was going to use the ply as a base and then attach the other pieces of timber over the top to give it that old style look with the windows at the top.
What I'm asking for is some ideas and maybe a solution to my problem. Should I just use all solid timber and not worry about the ply idea?

This is what i came up with. Now I'm going to paint the doors gloss black with auto paint and I think I'll get the bricks on the front sandblasted back to the red bricks.
I'm also going to cut another hole in the front and make another matching set of doors, so i can get cars in and out with out moving everything just to get one car out.
