Shed floor durability

I was thinking about working on my chevy 350 on a stand in my wooden shed. It's in good shape and built pretty solid. The plywood floor is 5/8" and I really don't notice any flex. The engine isn't super heavy and I would imagine it would be ok since my 2 loaded up tools boxes are probably heavier and doing fine. Just wanted to run this by the group in case it raises any red flags.

It would just be the short block so probably in the 350 range with the stand. Would it help to put another plywood sheet under it? I would use the other shed that's on a slab except I'd have to move the tractor every time I worked on it.

I would put a 2'x4' 3/4" ply to distribute the weight.

You need to consider the contact point of the wheels of the stand, then calculate the pressure over that square inches. My guess is that you could easily break through the 5/8" floor with the wheels on a typical engine stand.

It also depends on where the wheels on the stand are sitting. If the wheels are over the floor joists he shouldn't have a problem. But I would think a piece of 3/4 inch plywood under the stand combined with the 5/8 plywood floor should handle the weight without a problem.

I say if you're smart enough to rebuild a SB then you should know what you gotta do.

Exactly. The problem is that all of that weight will be on 4 small points on the floor. Some scrap wood under the stand wheels to distribute that load will make a big difference.

These are all the concerns I had. I haven't had a chance to look at wheel spacing vs joists. I am thinking if they line up a piece of 3/4 should be good. Another thought is taking the wheels off if I have room to move around it.
