Shed floor

Thoughs on not using pt band, joists and floor on a 12 x 16 shed.
Base would be compacted gravel with band resting on concrete blocks. Need to get at least 10 yrs out of it. $$$ savings, reg wood vs pt. Thanks, johnny generic

I would use pressure treated, rated for ground contact anywhere close to the ground, 0-5". Not the place to save $100.

Even gravel will let moisture pass and wick.

Regular wood that close to the ground is going to fail, quickly and be a PITA to replace once things are set.

Just lay 1 or 2 layers of treated 3/4" T&G plywood directly on the compacted gravel. Maybe some 30# felt first.

I assume no permits or inspections.

Why would you not use PT wood? It is 6 sheets of 4x8 plywood. Cost difference cannot be significant compared to the quality of the material and value of having a proper floor.

Why don't you just concrete it? Small enough even an amateur like me can do it.

I think using just concrete is not a good idea.

Why not? Properly prepared base, form it, plastic, chairs, reo, concrete.

I built a 12 x 14 shed over thirty years ago using railroad ties as the perimeter wall base on top of a pad of crusher run. Still doing fine.
