I'm thinking of building a small shed type structure attached to the back of my garage, to put my air compressor and lawn mower(off season), snowblower(off season) and other assorted lawn equipment

vinyl sided garage

I figure a lean-to type roof, posts at the outside corners, and stud it out

first question , what to do about the floor, mainly where the compressor will sit, pour a small slab?

other question, security? I figure stud it out with 2x4s, 16" on center, plywood inside and out, side the outside, and an exterior door

I hope to put up security cameras this year, so by the time I have anything in thsis structure, I will likely have it monitored

If you can live with a dirt floor for everything else, they make plastic equipment pads for AC units and such. They are heavy duty and last a long time. You can go to NDS.com to see some.
Or just pour a quick pad from concrete, leave a gap between the concrete of the house/garage and the compressor pad and you should be good to go

You can use a Diversitech Ultralite condensing unit pad. They're super light weight reinforced concrete pads. They run about $20.00 and will outlast the plastic pads by decades...
