Shed Foundation Advice

Ok Guys, I am going to show my inexperience here with my question.

I bought a shed kit from Sam's. It is a plastic resin shed because I desperately need to gain some space in my garage.

It has a plastic floor that snaps together. After thinking about foundation options, I decided to go with a 2x4 skid foundation with a plywood top. It is going to sit on blocks.

I've looked online for tips on building the skid. There is not much in the way of specifics on which type of screw to use, so I feel like I am making my best judgements.

My question becomes about alternatives. Could you build a skid foundation using pocket holes? How would they compare strength-wise to using traditional screws?

There's just one of the many articles on building a foundation for your shed. As for fasteners, I've used the typical deck screw to put everything together and I've also used nails to attach things together.

I suppose you could use pocket holes, but I would question the additional work required unless you're trying to make the foundation pretty from the outside without seeing any screw heads.

I would just use 3" decking screws - they work well for most anything and are rated for exposure. Use coated that are marked for use in treated wood if you use treated for the base, which you should. I imagine this thing isn't very big. If you use a 3/4" base, then 16" or 24" on center would be fine - 16" better of course.

Go 16" on center and use 3/4 - my little 10 X 10 shed floor is to bouncy with a wide spacing.

Thanks for the advice. I will stick with 3/4 top, 16" on center, and 3" deck screws.

I don't have that much experience with pocket holes. I was wondering how it compared strength wise to normal buildingh techniques.

you are talking a soft wood foundation that sits outdoors not an indoor cabinet or a teac object. Pocket screws remove wood to work. I would think that would be less desirable than vinyl coated or galvanized nails or screws.
