I purchased a solar shed light on sale for $24.95. Solar cell mounted outside with about 10ft of cable and you just plug it into the light to keep it charged. Not the brightest but works at night so you can at least see.
lights, a motion light on the outside, etc.
If you're not going to hardwire it, then use a led headlamp. Those things are great. If you hardwire it then you can do things like plug in your battery tenders, a grow light for seedlings, real interior lights, lights, a motion light on the outside, etc.
We don't get enough sun up north to make much use of solar lights. They die in the winter when it is dark from 4pm to 8 am.
