Wondering if anyone can direct me to plans for the attached shed/awning or Residential Detached Accessory Building as my City Hall classes it. Long story but basically my wife bought us a retirement home, new build so a small blank backyard. I have the plans and approvals for the pictured and a few quotes but would like to build the shed myself. I need plans to submit the permit. Not as easy to find my own plans as I thought it would be. I guess it would be termed a Lean-To shed with small overhead door and a man door............... Any thoughts............. Much appreciated....... Rhys.

I'm confused you say you "have the plans and approvals for the pictured" and "I need plans to submit the permit". Do you mean you need details (plan/ovehead view and elevations) for the shed itself?

Drawing the overhead and elevation plans is a good exercise as you get to build it first in your head before committing to cutting expensive materials.

Its not a step where you can expect to goto finished work in 1 step. Start with back-of-envelope details, work on the foundation, the framing, electric service, and then finishing and trim details (likely you won't have to submit those two). My locality will accept graph paper hand drawn plans. However they won't accept a simple "bill of materials". I spent about 4 months researching and drawing plans for my shop, larger size but it didn't happen in a weekend of work.

there used to be magazines which listed all kinds of homes and garage plans already done. you pick what you want and have a place to start.

Sorry mattt_i, rather than "plans and approvals" I meant the backyard layout plans (as pictured) and the minor variance approvals with the city. I have thta submitted and approved. I have to submit detailed drawings including foundation or floating pad cross sections, etc.. for the build permit. They have given me a detailed package of what I require. No problem putting that together but it would be nice to have some purchased plans as 59 Wagon Fan mentioned. That is all I am looking for if someone has a good web site or source. Thanks, Rhys.
