Hi all - brand new here. I've been working on a major remodel of my basement woodworking shop for some time, and a lot of my research has landed me on this forum, so I figured it was time to join.
I do have a specific flooring question. I have a very dry basement in a home built in the late 50's with 9x9 asphalt tiles - the kind that contain some asbestos and stuck down with a mastic that contains even more, so it isn't practical to pull it up, as doing so creates a hazard that leaving the tile intact does not. A few tiles have come up over the years around one drain, and some from around the water heater, but otherwise in very good shape mechanically, just ugly as hell (it's been a shop floor!!). The area in question is about 675 sq ft in total, but includes the shop area, a laundry room and a small half-bath.
A product like G-Floor looks to be ideal, but I have a few concerns.

- Is there any reason to be concerned about laying this over tile? I figure I'll have to fill in the few areas where tiles are missing, but I'm concerned that the G-Floor might tend to slide around on the tile - is this an issue?
- The shop re-design will have each machine in a designated place, connected to the dust collection system. However, every machine sits on a custom-fabricated mobile base with dual-locking 3" urethane casters, and no matter how carefully I lay everything out, there is inevitably that circumstance that will force me to move a machine a short distance one way or another for a particular task. How well will G-Floor hold up to having a 500# planer rolled across it occasionally?
- I'm very ****-retentive about keeping a clean shop, but the occasional accident does occur - how will G-Floor react to (worst case) a spill of some kind of solvent, like brush cleaner?
- The instructional videos for this stuff definitely encourage a DIY job for a garage floor, but I have all kinds of stuff that I have to fit the flooring around - a built-in workbench, corners, nooks, poles that support the I-beam across the ceiling, a drain pipe, etc. It seems that I'll get better results and a lot less frustration if I have it professionally installed - does anyone know if there are contractors who do this?
